What is microneedling?

Micro-needling is a new innovative treatment that treats multitudes of skin conditions and hair loss. During this procedure, the micro-needling pen is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin or scalp in order to produce and promote collagen in that area. The superficial micro-channels that are created allow the topical solution being used to be penetrated deeper into the scalp.

What is PRP?

Blood is mainly composed of a liquid called plasma, 55% to be exact, however, it also contains other small solid components such as red cells, white cells, and platelets. The platelets are best known for their importance for clotting blood, however, they also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors which is essential when healing injuries.

PRP, also known as Platelet Rich Plasma is plasma with many more platelets typically found in the blood. The concentration of platelets and growth factors found in this plasma is 5 to 10 times greater than usual.

How do you get PRP?

To develop a PRP preparation, blood must first be drawn. The platelets are separated from other blood cells and their concentration is increased during a process called centrifugation. Once the plasma is separated from the red and white blood cells, it is drawn from the tube and used in the treatment.

What is PRP microneedling?

At Plasma Therapy, we combine the method of PRP with micro-needling to achieve the best results. We apply the plasma is applied topically onto the skin or scalp, followed by the micro-needling treatment to penetrate the plasma deeper into the surface. The addition of PRP to the traditional micro-needling treatment increases the speed of healing, the production of collagen and growth factors as well as maximizing results.

What are the benefits of PRP compared to traditional
microneedling?

The benefit of adding PRP to micro-needling is that it helps to boost the results of a traditional micro-needling session. It increases the speed of your body’s healing process and the amount of collagen that is produced. Being able to enhance the results of micro-needling without making the treatment more invasive is part of what makes this technique so innovative.

I do not want to use my blood, can I still get this
is the treatment done?

Yes! For patients who don’t feel comfortable with the
the idea of blood, we use copper peptide solution on the scalp or stem cells (derived from apple seed) to the skin.

How long does the procedure take?

The entire procedure takes between 30 -90 minutes, depending on the area we are treating.

What is the downtime?

Downtime can be anywhere between 24-72 hours, depending on the depth of the needling. Redness is expected and very normal post-treatment. Itching and tingling sensations are also normal.

In cases where you do scab, this is also normal.

Please ensure you are wearing SPF so that you do not pigment.
