PDO Monthreads

Collagen Boosting Face Lift

PDO Monothreads offer a promising, minimally invasive solution for various skin concerns. They leverage the body’s natural collagen production mechanisms to provide lasting improvements in skin quality and appearance.

Targeted Lifting and Tightening with PDO Monothreads:

One of the unique benefits of PDO (Polydioxanone) Monothreads is their ability to provide targeted lifting and tightening of the skin. Unlike other treatments, PDO Monothreads offer a non-surgical approach to skin rejuvenation, making them ideal for those looking for minimally invasive options.

Stimulating Collagen for Long-Term Results:

PDO Monothreads are known for their ability to stimulate collagen production in the treated areas. The threads act as a scaffold, around which new collagen fibers grow. This collagen stimulation offers long-term benefits, making your skin look firmer and more youthful for an extended period.

Biocompatible and Safe:

PDO Monothreads are made from polydioxanone, a biocompatible and bioabsorbable material. This ensures that the treatment is safe and reduces the risk of allergic reactions or complications.

Versatile Applications for Skin Concerns:

PDO Monothreads are effective for a range of skin rejuvenation needs:

  • Facial Lifting: Ideal for lifting sagging skin around the jowls and neck.
  • Wrinkle Reduction: Effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Skin Tightening: Offers excellent results for tightening loose or sagging skin.
  • Texture Improvement: Enhances the overall texture and quality of the skin.

how it works

Reduce Wrinkles

PDO Mono Threads work by stimulating the ongoing production of collagen and elastin for 3 months. The threads are smooth threads made from dissolvable material and are places under the skin with micro needles to create a tissue response.

As your body works to break down the thread, it initiates an important growth factor release to encourage fibroblast activation. This activation is what allows you skin cells to produce new collagen around the thread which tightens skin, improves sagging tissue and helps smooth out fine lines.

A More Youthful Appearance

Did you know that collagen production starts to dip in most people's bodies from the time they're in their early 20s, and continues to decrease about 1% a year. PDO Mono Threads are inserted into the sub dermal level, in a mesh-like pattern, to promote the creation of new collagen. The threads activate collagen synthesis which produces a gradual skin thickening, skin tightening and rejuvenation effect.

Frequently Asked Questions

PDO (Polydioxanone) thread is a solid fiber thread, which dissolves in the body tissue after a certain time.

PDO Mono Threads are made from a material called Polydioxanone which is an absorbable polymer that is flexible and durable.  PDO Threads induce production of collagen, creating a tightening effect for 12 months after your procedure. The threads become a support structure for your face allowing natural collagen and hyaluronic acid production to take place, over time the PDO thread will be fully absorbed by the body. Typically, around 20-50 PDO Mono threads are used to treat an area.

These threads, by design, are not made to lift.  They have no ‘barbs’ to hold on to or anchor tissue, they are smooth and are designed to be left in until they dissolve

The tightening of the skin will lead to a SLIGHT lift, but lifting is not the purpose of mono threads; it is a desirable side effect of creating adequate amounts.

If you are experiencing one or a few of the following, then you are eligible for PDO threads.

  • slight sagging of the skin across the entire face (extremely loose skin cannot be treated with PDO mono Threads)
  • loss of tissue volume
  • fine lines and wrinkles, cheek wrinkles
  • some expression wrinkles
  • eyebrows descent
  • mild to moderate jowl appearance
  • turkey neck
  • patients with some relapse from a facelift or neck lift
  • mild sagging of body skin

However, we always recommend a consultation so that we can assess your skin and give you an accurate indication of number of threads, eligibility and price.

  • Upper and lower cheeks
  • Neck Lines
  • Jawline
  • Jowls
  • Marionette lines
  • Tear Troughs
  • Forehead Lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Smokers lines
  • Eyebrow Lift

It is important for you to be aware that the results of  PDO mono threads are progressive. This is because they rely on the body’s natural production of collagen which takes time, rather than administering man-made versions into the skin. The lifting effect of PDO Mono Threads   therapy reaches a peak at around 3-4 months post-treatment, after which time new collagen and elastin will have formed around the threads to tighten the skin and make the area look firmer, smoother and more youthful. The effects of treatment last between at least 12 months after which time further treatment may be necessary to maintain your results.

PDO Mono Threads will slowly dissolve into the skin by around the 3 month. Although the thread is no longer there, the effects of collagen and elastin in the area will last for up to 12 months!

After 12 months, you are welcome to come back in to do another treatment.

The procedure itself is minimally invasive, however when inserting the thread, it does cause micro-injuries to layers within the skin.

As such, patients are given  numbing cream to apply 45 min before their treatment which will ensure that they remain comfortable and relaxed throughout.

However, to avoid waiting in the reception area of the clinic, we advise clinics to apply their own numbing cream 45 min prior to their appointment. Any numbing cream purchased from your local chemist will do!

In terms of downtime, there is minimal abraisans to the skin post treatment.

Bruising can occur where threads have been inserted, however we do take care to try to avoid, we can not promise this as there are bountiful amounts of blood vessels in the face, there is always that risk!

No hot saunas, spas or intense exercise for a few weeks – for the same reason as above plus, minimising the chance of infection.

It is best if you can avoid anti-inflammatory medications for three days prior and three days after the procedure.

This includes prescription anti-inflammatory medications as well as over the counter paracetamol (cardiac clients should continue taking aspirin). You should avoid these medications for 5-7 days after the treatment as well.

Clients on blood thinners (Coumadin/warfarin/Plavix/Pradaxa) are best to stop taking medication 3 days prior, however are able to continue taking them right afterwards.

Avoiding Fish Oil tablets is also ideal.

As a safe raw material that is completely absorbed by the body through hydrolysis, PDO causes minimal tissue reaction and tissue trauma. MINT is Australian TGA approved and backed by clinical studies for its efficacy and safety.
